Troublesome Injury Report for Miami Dolphins

All week the talk has centered around the health of the Denver Broncos.

Julius Thomas is banged up with an ankle injury. Emmanuel Sanders got hit into next year last Sunday. Monte Ball is dealing with a groin problem.

All good, right?

Wrong.

The final injury reports came out today for both Miami and Denver, and TE Charles Clay is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. The setback, one has to assume, had to take place over the course of practice this week, as this hasn't been an issue until yesterday's report.

This is a big loss for Miami, make no mistake about it. Yes, Clay has had a down year compared to 2013. However, he's come around over the past month, and continues to be one of Ryan Tannehill's most reliable targets, especially in the red zone, where the Dolphins already, well, stink.

So yes, this is a huge loss if Clay can't go, and all signs are pointing that direction right now.

If/when he can't, look for Dion Sims, who hasn't played in three weeks with a toe injury, to fill in. Sims appears to be back to full health, and can be an asset to this offense. He's a phenomenal blocker, but can also have the knack for the big play (Oakland, Jacksonville, Chicago).

A couple more notable names on the report include CB Cortland Finnegan, who missed last week's game with an ankle injury. Finnegan, like Clay, is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game. Expect Jamar Taylor to get his second straight start.

G Daryn Colledge is listed as questionable on the final report. He hasn't played since exiting the Jacksonville game with migraines, and has been dealing with a back problem. This, right now, seems like the most up in the air status for the Dolphins. I expect Colledge to go even though he's been limited in practice all week. If he can't look for Shelly Smith to once again fill in alongside Ja'Waun James on the left side.

RB Lamar Miller also popped up on today's final injury report with knee injury to go along with his nagging shoulder separation. This is something to monitor, but I expect Miller to be fine on Sunday.

For the Broncos, TE Julius Thomas is listed as questionable. I expect him to play, but his snap count could very well be limited.

WR Emmanuel Sanders is listed as probable, so he's obviously passed all of the concussion protocols and will play. Jamar Taylor will be the one to cover him.

And finally, RB Monte Ball is listed as doubtful and is not expected to play.

Two days.
