Gameday: Who Has the Edge? PLUS Prediction

Welcome to your third Miami Dolphins game day of the year, as the Fins and Chiefs are just five short hours away from kicking things off in Sun Life Stadium.

As I've told you all week, this is not only a game the Dolphins could win, but this is a game they absolutely SHOULD win.

Why?

Well, how nice of you to ask:

WHO HAS THE EDGE?

When the Dolphins run the ball: If Knowshon Moreno was healthy and playing then this would be a no brainer. Kansas City ranks 22nd against stopping the run, giving up 125 yards a game, while the Dolphins rank 9th in the league, averaging 131 yards a game. HOWEVER, lets not kid ourselves here, all of that is because of Knowshon's week one performance, and without him I just don't see as much production out of Lamar Miller, Damien Williams, and Daniel Thomas (yes, he's back). EDGE: Even

When the Chiefs run the ball: Not 100% sure if Jamaal Charles plays today, however, I am 100% sure that he won't be 100%. Expect to see a heavy dose of backup Kniles Davis, who scored two touchdowns last week, but don't sleep on him, because he'll burn you if not contained. KC has averaged 100 yards through two games on the ground, while Miami has give up 101 on average through the first two weeks. Sounds even, right? Not without Charles. EDGE: Miami

When the Dolphins pass the ball: This is something I harped on a few days ago, so I won't spend much time on it here. Bottom line? Kansas City has a below average secondary and pass rush, which means Ryan Tannehill should excel today. For more, click here. EDGE: Miami

When the Chiefs pass the ball: Alex Smith had a nice rebound game last week after an awful week one performance, but does he scare you? Dwayne Bowe isn't near the receiver he used to be, Jamaal Charles isn't there to bail him out, and the duo of Travis Kelce and Anthony Fasano, while nice, isn't intimidating. Most importantly, however, are the guys protecting Smith. Long story short, Cam Wake and company should have a field day. For more on that, again, click here. EDGE: Miami

PREDICTION

Miami is right where I expected them to be after two games, and now, it's time to pounce on a weak schedule going into the bye week in a few weeks. I said they'd be 3-1 at that point, and I absolutely believe it's possible. It just has to start today. I think it will.

Final: Miami 24 Kansas City 17

Alright, just a few more hours until the annoyingly late 4:25 kickoff in South Florida.

Come back beforehand and get the latest pre game new, notes, and inactives for both teams, as well as an answer to possibly the biggest question of the day:

Will the Dolphins dawn the all-aqua uniforms for the first time since 2002? Remember, it's an "aqua out" today. Whatever that means.

So come back, find out, then watch the first quarter and come back AGAIN for the beginning of the quarter-by-quarter blog.

5 hours.
