Starks Close To A Miami Return; Ben Tate On The Radar?

In an unprecedented, but very welcomed, turn of events, it seems that DT Randy Starks will be returning to the Miami Dolphins after all.

According to multiple sources, Starks and the Dolphins are finalizing a deal that would bring him back to Miami for up to $6 million a year.  This coming a day after former Dolphin Paul Soliai signed a huge deal with the Falcons worth $33 million and $14 million guaranteed.

Miami had not yet offered Starks a deal when free agency hit yesterday afternoon. and most expected it would stay that way, especially after the signing of former Texan Earl Mitchell.  However, news broke last night that Starks was close to returning to Miami.

When (and if) this deal becomes official, the Dolphins will have one of the most formidable defensive lines in the NFL, featuring Cameron Wake, Mitchell, Starks, Odrick, Vernon, and Dion Jordan.  It's early, but I would assume that Mitchell and Starks would start with Odrick rotating in throughout the game.

More to come, as it appears GM Dennis Hickey has kicked the tires on RB Ben Tate and G Zach Strief.
