Week 17 playoff scenarios

I'll obviously elaborate on this more later on, but here's how the Miami Dolphins get in the playoffs next week:

Miami wins AND

Baltimore loses  

OR

Miami wins AND

Baltimore and San Diego win

That's it, I THINK.

In the first scenario, Miami would win the wild card outright over Baltimore (9-7 to 8-8).

In the second scenario, all three teams would be 9-7, with Miami winning the tiebreaker.

There is NOT a scenario in which the Dolphins lose but still get in.

Baltimore will be at Cincinnati, while San Diego will host Kansas City.

Miami is obviously hosting the Jets.

Another way to look at it is this:

The only way Miami doesn't make the playoffs, assuming they win, is if San Diego doesn't beat Kansas City.

As of today, somehow, someway, the Dolphins actually own the final playoff spot.

The loss today hurt, but it's by no means season ending.
