Week 17 in the NFL: Picks and predictions

Well, another season has come and gone.  The fact that this will be the final set of weekly predictions for 2013 is unbelievable to me.  Wasn't it just July 21st?

It's my greatest hope that this blog will have AT LEAST one more week of meaningful football to cover, we'll know by this time tomorrow.  So, I'll be an optimist here and say, simply, this isn't goodbye, this is see you next week.

To the picks.

Last weeks record: 10-6

Overall record: 141-85-1

Carolina @ Atlanta:  Lets see here.  The Falcons are playing for nothing, the Panthers are playing for a first round bye.  Who should I pick?  I'll take the Panthers.

Houston @ Tennessee:  Literally couldn't care less.  Do you realize that the last time Houston won a game was WEEK 2.  That's impressive.  I'll take the Titans.

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh:  They destroyed them last month on the road, and I think they destroy them here at home.  Give me the Steelers.

Washington @ NY Giants:  Well, this one looked a lot better four months ago, huh?  Giants.

Baltimore @ Cincinnati:  Doesn't get much bigger than this for Baltimore, and Miami, and San Diego, for that matter.  Cincinnati is coming off a dominating win, while the Ravens are coming off a debacle. Cincinnati is also 7-0 at home.  The Ravens have won two games on the road.  This matchup just favors the Bengals.

Jacksonville @ Indianapolis:  Refer to first line of Hou/Ten.  Colts.

Detroit @ Minnesota:  It's kind of remarkable how the Lions couldn't win the NFC North this season.  I feel for you, Detroit fans.  I really do.  I like the Vikings here.

Green Bay @ Chicago:  Aaron Rodgers>Jay Cutler.  It really is that simple.  The Packers get it done on the road.

Buffalo @ New England:  Remember when the Dolphins played the Pats in the season finale last season?  Yeah, I see that same game here.  Give me the Patriots.

Tampa Bay @ New Orleans:  No way the Saints lose three in a row.  Not at home, not with a playoff spot at stake.  Drew Brees, Sean Payton, and the who-dats get it done here.  Saints.

Denver @ Oakland:  Now its just time for Peyton to pad his stats.  Broncos.

San Francisco @ Arizona:  Really impressive win last week for the Arizona Cardinals.  They may not get in, but they certainly deserve it.  I like them here.  Bruce Arians deserves some serious coach of the year love.  Cardinals.

Kansas City @ San Diego:  Another monumental game for Miami and Baltimore, assuming both win early in the day.  I like the Chargers here. They beat Kansas City last month, on the road, and now they get to face their second team, at home.

St. Louis @ Seattle:  Give credit to the Rams, they're a tough out every week of the year.  Unfortunately for them, they're getting a Seattle team coming off a bad home loss. Yikes.  Give me the Seahawks.

Philadelphia @ Dallas:  Even with Tony Romo out, I expect this to be a good game. Don't be surprised to see Kyle Orton keep the Cowboys in this thing, maybe even pull it out.  However, he's fighting a losing battle with the defense.  Give me the Eagles to take the East.

Alright folks, that's it for now.

Come back in the morning for all your pre-game coverage, including my prediction as the Dolphins and Jets are just under 18 hours away from kicking things off.

Tomorrow afternoon, I'll have live updates of the Ravens game (and Chargers game, if necessary), along with the live blog of the Dolphins game.

Be sure to come back in the morning.  I'll even have a column posted for you with Breaking Bad, Friends, and the Miami Dolphins all on one page.  Can't miss that!

One. Day.

GO FINS
