By now you all have probably seen/analyzed/bashed/approved the Miami Dolphins new logo.
If not, here it is:
This logo was originally supposed to be unveiled next month, as I reported last week, however, Nike allegedly screwed the pooch on this one, as a picture was uploaded to twitter last week with the new logo:
CEO Mike Dee has now confirmed that this is the new logo.
Initial thoughts? Personally, I like it. It's a more modernized version of the classic Fins logo, got rid of the dreaded helmet with an "M" on it, and toned down the color scheme, which grew darker and darker over the years.
Speaking of color schemes, details of the new uniform look have been leaked out as well. According to the Miami Herald, the Fins will go to an all white face mask this season, abandoning the aqua face mask they've traditionally used.
Speaking of aqua, the Fins will reportedly go back to the original, more faded aqua and orange look in their new uniforms. Much like the logo, the colors had grew darker over the years. Their will also be no orange alternate jersey anymore, white and aqua will be the primary jersey colors.
The complete unveiling of the uniforms will take place on April 25th, the day of the NFL Draft.
OTHER NEWS:
GM Jeff Ireland has begun to solidify the offensive line, as former Bears guard Lance Louis has been signed to a deal, according to reports.
Louis started 11 games with the Bears a season ago before suffering a season ending MCL injury. He was ranked 47th best OG by Pro Football Focus, and was the Bears best lineman before going down with the injury.
Louis probably won't be ready for OTA's in May, but is expected to be healthy for training camp in July. I'd suspect he will replace John Jerry at RG, as the team has been noncommittal on Jerry.
This is a solid move by Ireland, but don't be surprised to still see the offensive line addressed more this offseason, whether through the draft or another signing.
New logo, new (old?) color scheme, new RG? Big day for the Fins today. Who says March is a slow month?
That's all for now.
