Why not Marty Schottenheimer?
No, Jeff Fisher has not decided where he will be coaching in 2012. That decision will be coming sometime this weekend or early next week.
We do know, however, that Fisher has narrowed his landing spot down to either Miami or St. Louis. Lets just take a minute and assume that the Rams win him over, leaving the Dolphins still in search of the their 10th head coach in franchise history. Now let me pose to you a question..
Why not Marty Schottenheimer?
Yes, the former San Diego Chargers head coach who was fired after the 2006 season.
I know, most will argue that he's 68 years old and hasn't coached in five years. But I will counter that argument by saying he has, in-fact, coached since then.
Schottenheimer is coming off his first ever pro sports title, winning the UFL championship back in October with the Virginia Destroyers.
Sources close to Schottenheimer also say that the coach is extremely hungry and eager to get back on the NFL sidelines after a five year absence.
In a 21 year head coaching run, Schottenheimer went 200-126-1, but went a troubling 5-13 in the playoffs which plays a big part in why he has yet to return to the league.
However, he is a proven winner, only posting two losing seasons in his entire career while Jeff Fisher, who the Dolphins are in hot pursuit of, has only posted six winning seasons in 17 years of head coaching.
So I pose the question to you again..
