Gameday! Jets @ Dolphins, who has the edge?

When the Dolphins run the ball:  Reggie Bush may be the biggest Pro Bowl snub of all, posting over five yards a carry this season en route to his first 1,000 yard season of his career.  Unfortunately, Bush is out for this game with a knee injury, leaving rookie Daniel Thomas to take the bulk of the carries.  Thomas has been inconsistent all season long, and I look for the Dolphins to lean more on Matt Moore without Bush in the back field.  EDGE--Jets

When the Dolphins pass the ball:  If the Jets defense expects to see the same Matt Moore that they did earlier this season then they're sorely, sorely mistaken.  As I posted earlier this week, Moore will be playing for his job next season, and without Reggie Bush in the backfield he will be relied on heavily to carry the Dolphins offense.  I believe Moore will respond and complete his unbelievable turnaround against the team it all started against so many weeks ago. When the Jets run the ball:  I've said it for weeks, you do not run on this Dolphins defense, you just don't.  They're third in the league at stopping the run and I don't expect that to stop today.  The Jets still claim week in and week out that they're a run first offense, but with the game on the line last week Mark Sanchez threw 59 times, a career high.  Again, you don't run on this Dolphins defense.  Enough said. EDGE--Dolphins

When the Jets pass the ball:  Mark Sanchez may be playing in his last game as a NY Jet after falling under much scrutinty this season for his team high 23 turnovers.  The Dolphins defense will force Sanchez to pass the ball, and when team's do that good things tend to happen. Look for Jason Taylor to go out with a bang in his final career game, putting pressure on Sanchez on third down all day long. EDGE--Dolphins

Player to watch: Look for Anthony Fasano to have a big day today after missing last week with a concussion. Brandon Marshall will have a difficult time getting involved with Darrelle Revis covering him, and when he's not open look for Anthony Fasano down the middle of the field. If Matt Moore can keep Fasano involved and not force it to Brandon Marshall like he did in their first matchup then it should be a fine day for the Miami offense.

P-R-E-D-I-C-T-I-O-N

The Jets have more incentive to win with a playoff spot still possible. The Dolphins have been out of contention for 8 weeks, but they've showed us that doesn't matter all that much, going 5-3 in the second half of the season while the Jets have floundered. Jason Taylor's final game will add some extra motivation for Miami, and on that note I'll give the fins' the edge, 28-17.


I will be at the game today, so while I will try to do a live blog, those who have been to Sun Life Stadium know that the cell phone service in there is kinda like Rex Ryan's attempt at losing weight-not good.
